American Youth Football (AYF)Division Descriptions:

AYC levels are broken up into 8 division. Football Players are placed in divisions based on age and what is best for both the athlete's development and the program's ability to provide instruction. Each division is designed to progressively build upon the previous, helping athletes develop not just in terms of football skills but also as individuals within a team environment.

Division 6 (ages 6 or younger)
n the 6U division, the focus is on introducing the fundamentals of football in a fun and engaging way. Emphasis is placed on developing basic motor skills, teamwork, and understanding the game’s core concepts. Practices will include activities that build hand-eye coordination, balance, and a general understanding of playing together as a team.

Division 7 (ages 7 or younger)
This division continues to develop basic football skills with an increased emphasis on more structured drills and understanding of positioning. Players will focus on ball handling, footwork, and simple offensive and defensive concepts. Practices are designed to support an environment where players build confidence and start refining their football technique.

Division 8 (ages 8 or younger)
At the 8U level, players are introduced to more complex game strategies, while still maintaining a focus on basic skill development. Coaches work on building an understanding of teamwork and positioning while expanding their knowledge of offensive and defensive plays. Players are encouraged to develop their athletic skills and understanding of the game's flow.

Division 9 (ages 9 or younger)
In the 9U division, players begin to develop a deeper understanding of the game’s strategy, with an emphasis on individual skill development. Players focus on refining basic techniques, such as blocking, tackling, and passing, while learning about team formations and game situations. It’s a time for players to work on their physical conditioning and teamwork.

Division 10 (ages 10 or younger)
At this level, players start refining their football techniques and understanding more advanced plays. The focus is on improving individual skills, such as ball handling, blocking, and tackling, while continuing to develop team coordination. Coaches work on integrating more complex offensive and defensive strategies and creating a more competitive environment.

Division 11 (ages 11 or younger)
The 11U division is focused on further developing football skills with a greater emphasis on tactical knowledge. Players refine their positions and individual techniques while learning how to execute plays more effectively. Practices focus on increasing physical conditioning and mental toughness, preparing players for more competitive games.

Division 12 (ages 12 or younger)
At 12U, players have a strong understanding of the game and focus on honing their technical skills and football IQ. Players work on refining their position-specific techniques while learning more sophisticated game strategies. The focus is on improving both physical and mental conditioning, while preparing players for higher levels of competition.

Division 13 (ages 13 or younger)
The 13U division is the culmination of years of skill development. Players at this level focus on advanced techniques and strategies, with an emphasis on individual excellence and team execution. Coaches focus on preparing players for higher-level competition by fine-tuning their game knowledge, improving physical endurance, and enhancing team chemistry. At this stage, players are expected to perform at a higher competitive level with a full understanding of the game’s complexity.
